Her connection to the country and the troubling reports of persecution have compelled her to speak out publicly, and she shared her insights during a surprise appearance at AmericaFest, where she engaged with the audience through questions.
Minaj expressed that Nigeria holds significant meaning for her, stating that the distressing news about attacks on Christians has truly affected her. She revealed that her pastor hails from Nigeria and mentioned her substantial fanbase in the country, affectionately known as the "Nigerian barbs."
The rapper emphasized that these personal connections made it impossible for her to remain silent in the face of such injustice. She highlighted the grave situation where Christians are reportedly being kidnapped and murdered while attending church services, urging the global community to take notice and act. "Nigeria is a place I’ve always cherished. Someone very dear to me, my pastor, is Nigerian, and I have many loyal fans there. Hearing about individuals being abducted during worship and others being killed or brutalized simply for their faith should ignite outrage around the world," she stated passionately.
Minaj pointed out that staying silent only perpetuates the oppression faced by these communities, making it clear that she has resolved to no longer be muted about issues concerning faith and persecution. "We are not backing down anymore. We refuse to be silenced by those who bully others. We will advocate for Christians everywhere on this planet," she declared firmly.
